The Everyday

Today felt like a day in... oh..1985. Canned some relish. Froze a few quarts of green beans and made a humongous pot of vegetable soup. Wanted to make some bread but that will have to be for tomorrow. So many of my days in the 80's consisted of bread making, canning or preserving food in some fashion with children pulling on me or playing around me. Today it was my grandson playing in the kitchen while Gram put up food. His mama did the same 19-20 years ago. We do the same things over and over but some how, some way, God brings life and joy into the everyday. I am so grateful He does.

Farmer's Market

There is something special about Farmer's Markets where ever you go. The types of people, the smell of coffee and baked goods, the sounds of music and happy voices...Well.... a Farmer's Market is just a happy place that makes you smile inside and out.

I don't like to drive in fog. I know if I can't see very far in front of me, other drivers can't either. If there can be a just right fog, it was this morning. It was the right thickness to see cars and road signs around me. It made the early morning quietness just a little softer, stiller... Clear patches opened up as I drove, revealing a thick mist clinging to the sides of the mountain, hovering in the valleys and a heavier soggy thickness hanging over the river. The fog was beautiful.

fog...a cloudlike mass or layer of minute water droplets or ice crystals near the surface of the earth, appreciably reducing visibility.

mist...a cloudlike aggregation of minute globules of water suspended in the atmosphere at or near the earth's surface, reducing visibility to a lesser degree than fog.

There is bounty to be found in the everyday. Sometimes it feels so hidden and almost lost, but it's there. I like the everyday. The beauty, the sounds, the smells, the touch... To uncover them is bounty to the soul.. I hope to write my discoveries down.
