Movement

It moves...so...it must be a vuh-vuh.(short u sound.. drawn out and repeated over and over like a motor) Last week my husband and I were eating lunch at a mall foodcourt with our grandson and our daughter(grandson's mom)when I heard him go vuh-vuh, vuh-vuh over and over with lots of gusto. I followed his stare to an older woman with a walker. We all got a laugh out of that one. Today he came to visit Oma at work. While there a very sweet elderly gentleman with a cane came up to talk to Malachi. Malachi was very social which engaged the gentleman in "conversation". Malachi began making his car motor sound of vuh-vuh over and over. I told the man this was his car sound. Malachi was staring and reaching for his cane. Mr gladly obliged the cane to Malachi. How Malachi has attached his big truck-car sound to walkers and canes is a mystery. Somewhere in his God given imagination he as connected movement to this sound. The open, unused, unprogrammed,no walls, mind of a one year old. Movement is movement. He didn't stop to see the bent over lady slowly walking, the elderly man who just had heart surgery that needed a cane, the possible danger of the eighteen wheeler, the garbage in the garbage truck. All he saw was movement. One and the same. ALL get called the vuh-vuh whether big and fast or old and slow. Beauty. Movement is Movement. Wheels or no wheels.

Sons, Daughters, Grandchildren... Will be at the home place for one day. All together... Five grown children, some with their brood, and some still single. There will be combinations "on a family theme" for a few days before and after Christmas... BUT.... THAT ONE DAY. Food, Laughter, LOTS of noise and commotion. Home will look and smell like Christmas. I will make the favorite food for each one. This makes a full table. Smiles, hugs, grandboys weaving in and out of legs, brothers laughing full and loud, and of course touches of the pregnant belly...I can hear/see it now, "LOOK, She's moving!" Like an orchestrated dance, all the sisters will run and lay hands like a prayer on the beautiful belly. FAMILY what a beautiful word.
