Banana Chips

It's hard for me to pass up those marked down banana bags full of smoothie, bread making bananas. The grocery store had several bags all the same price. Like any grocery saving mama, I looked for the best looking bags. Then I weighed each one to get the most for my money. We ate on those bananas for days. Couldn't let them go to waste. Already has some for smoothies in the freezer. I pulled out the trusty dehydrator. Here are the results.

Dipped in lemon juice and dried for several hours.
The heat from the dehydrator added to the warmth in the kitchen. Made a batch of granola while the banana slices turned into banana chips.

Final Products

Put extra banana chips in a recycled pasta jar.

Aware.  A fresh awakening to the choices in everyday. "My" everyday choices. The choices that ripple into the lives of all the other "my choices". Quick fleeting moments...  eye to eye contact... voice tones... words... body signals. Choices to move  in and with Life.

Yesterday, I worked my part time job. I noticed weariness in the faces of so many people.  Most of the clientele that come into the local pharmacy are middle aged and older.  I see and hear financial worry, worry over the loss of health,  the news of cancer worn as a heavy winter coat.  Simple hard working folks.

I see Mozelle for the first time in months. Any pepper she had in her salt and pepper hair is now a beautiful snowy white salt. She is a petite woman with jumping blue eyes. I take a moment to walk with her to the back pharmacy counter. She shares with me how her cancer has spread. I feel like a huge oak walking beside a small willow. Her shoulders have curved toward her breast. She is frail. I tell her that she is a strong woman.  Her response back to me." I'm just too tired to keep on. I'm very tired."  What do you say to that?... I wrapped her frail frame in a hug.   I walked back to my work station a mix of sadness and hope. Hope to stop and notice the Mozelle's that pass me. Mozelle stopped by my counter on the way out just to say bye and have a good day.  I "saw" the weary cloak.  I looked into her deep blue eyes because she made the choice/took the time to stop by and look into my eyes to say bye.
Choices with in the moment. I was the one that was blessed by her choice.

Beauty for Ashes

We choose everyday.  What to wear, what to eat, to shower or not to shower, help or ignore, to look at the world with cynicism or grace.  I choose to choose grace.  A few beautiful definitions I rummaged around and found for  grace are:

Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion.
A disposition to be generous or helpful; goodwill.
 Mercy; clemency.
Divine love and protection bestowed freely on people.
The state of being protected or sanctified by the favor of God.

To honor or favor: You grace our table with your presence.
To give beauty, elegance, or charm to.
Music To embellish with grace notes.
The prayer of my heart is to see beauty.  To hear and see the music in the soul and eyes of the people I know and meet.
The inspiration for this little post came from here.   Let me know of times you have chosen beauty for ashes.
