The Thirty-Eighth Day of Summer

A VERY HOT DAY in Eastern North Carolina. I helped my mom inside while David started in the "cool" of the day, around 7am, cleaning and painting the floor and steps of the back porch. He was able to finish by 3:30.

finishing touches while my dad supervises

Working hard and fast so we can make it to the farmers market for peaches before the vendors leave at 5pm

My parents next door neighbor gave us toys and clothes to bring home for our grandchildren.

Leaving Clayton. Notice the time of day for such heat!

Made it to the farmers market....And I thought it was hot in Clayton. Raleigh feels even hotter.

Made me smile

I KNEW if felt hotter! So hot it almost hurt to breathe the air. The hot humid earthy smells from the heat felt comforting and soothing in a strange sorta way.  Nostalgia from my childhood.

Just one more heat picture just before we exit for Trader Joe's in Cary.

After a few peach taste test David and I opted for a bushel of peaches from the best peach growin' part of NC

I forgot to take a picture of the peaches. You will see them tomorrow.

On the Thirty-Seventh Day of Summer

It is VERY hot outside, 84 degrees after 9pm. David and I drove over from my parents home to a McDonalds for WiFi. I just had to post something for the thirty-seventh day of summer. Can't break my flow.

This little car zoom by us. Iarely caught the words under the license plate. Made me laugh

David and I ate lunch at this little restaurant . Clayton ,NC is really changing.

The coffee shop and restaurant is in what was a deteriorating building a few years back. Way to go Clayton. Restore those wonderful old brick buildings.

Across the street from where we had lunch

We left from lunch to my parents home. We have had a fun afternoon. Wish I had had the camera with me at supper.  My parents took us out to eat at an all you can eat place. Supper bar had fried fish, fried chicken, fried shrimp, barbeque pork, country style steak and gravy , chicken pastry and drum roll.....fat back. YES fat back. Look it up if you don't know what it is. Now, add all the southern style vegetables you can think of plus biscuits, hush puppies,...... Then there was the dessert bar with pies of all sorts, banana pudding, cobbler...I still am rolling since supper.

FYI~The forecast is for 101 degrees tomorrow.

On the Thirty-Sixth Day of Summer

After almost 26 years of serving us well, our toilet officially died. David tried fixing and fixing, corking, new parts, and it still leaked and would not flush. We had to face it. We had to buy a new toilet. I remembered something about low water use toilets and rebates from an article a few months back in the paper. I checked out the town utility site and sure enough... if you bought a water sense toilet the town would give you a rebate up to 100 dollars until the funds ran out. Hopefully the funds were still there. It is the end of July.
David purchased a water sense toilet, on sale, for under 100 dollars.

out with the old, in with the new

YAY...Town of Boone!

Our new water saving throne...after rebate FREE!!!!!!

We ended the evening with dinner with friends.
