On the Eighty-Eighth Day of Summer

Tried to get a photo of the cousins with the caps but they were always in motion

Checkin' out the caps.  Groovy

Some of the last flowers of summer

A look at the other side.  Thank you sweetheart for bringing me flowers

After the cousin photos daughter-in-law, Meredith and I went to a church fall rummage sale. Said we would me gone just a little while. That little while was 3 hours. Glad I had made a bean chili and a meat chili earlier in the day. The men found dinner for themselves and the children while we were out. Meredith and I found treasures. A full day of joy.

On the Eighty-Seventh Day of Summer

This bag of popcorn was given to us. WHOA! Must be some kind of special corn at this price!

Less than half of a pound

Whoa....$7.53 for 15 ounces, that's close to $8.00 per pound for air popped corn with a chemical cheese powder and high sodium. Yes, I did eat a few handfuls. Not impressed. And we complain about the price per pound for fruit and vegetables?!

It is still officially summer. This is the temperature around 9:30pm. YES! Great sleeping weather.

On the Eighty-Sixth Day of Summer

Thinking about frugality again. Something in me enjoys beating the system. How can I save on this? How can I cut back on ___? Do we really need _____? I know for an absolute fact a life can be full and beautiful living with less foo and fluff. Stuff. The word sounds choking, distracting, heavy. I have stuff. I have given away stuff. I have thrown out stuff. I have shuffled stuff from place to place. I am thankful for the gifts of food, water, home comforts, clothing, a part time job.... There is a place of comfort with the basics for living. I am not talking about a dull, unhappy, uncomfortable drab life. I'm talking color, a lightness of being, fewer distractions from the burdens stuff brings. Just putting my thoughts for the day out there.  I came across a couple of "kitchen gaggets" from a kitchen sight today.  Just thought I share... Spell check just highlighted the misspelling of gadgets.  Thought I'd leave the spelling as is.

Kiwi Guard

The Kiwi Guard is a sturdy transparent case that protects the kiwi against bruises it can sustain when brought along in a bag.

On the Eighty-Fifth Day of Summer

Today I cleaned out/sorted through crammed grocery store receipts in my wallet. As I glanced over the receipts I did a double take on the Earth Fare receipt from Sunday. I saved 88 cents. How? I didn't use coupons. Maybe they have started giving bag credits? NO! There it was, SENIOR DISCOUNT! BUT I wasn't asked! I pulled a young co-worker aside to show him my receipt and discount. His response, a high five for saving 88 cents...NO! They gave me a senior discount with out asking if I qualified. His response, Maybe she was just being nice and gave you the discount...
I have been eligible to join AARP for four years now. I know I am mid fifties. But, a senior discount with out asking? Oh well, I guess I need to "face" the facts...I qualify for senior discounts. I can embrace that. I love finding deals. Now the quest.... Who, on what days and where can discounts be found?

On the Eighty-Third Day of Summer

Weavers are amazing. To create design from thread, straw, reed, paper, etc. is a beautiful art form.
This slow Sunday morning as I restfully, enjoyed the summer sun on our front porch I was aware of an intricate, delicate, beautifully, wondrous weaving just across from me.

A small white butterfly enjoying the butterfly bush made a wrong turn but quickly pulled away from the web.  Shew....

A bee enjoying the nectar just a small distance away from the web.

The web is beautiful BUT, I DON'T LIKE SPIDERS!

Today's links.
