Christmas Lights in the Rain and Fog

A walk around town enjoying the rare warm December air and Christmas lights. As we were out it began to rain and get foggy. So...we enjoyed the lights through the fog. Our daughter and grandson kept us company. Malachi found joy in finding Christmas lights everywhere. Yes, even in the fog.

I tried to capture the family in front of me. They curved on the staircase as I curved above them. Was going to delete this at first. The more I looked at it the more I liked the paint-canvas effect.

A Brief Pink Fog

The morning fog briefly had a pink glow.

Then back to regular grey.

Sitting at the kitchen table, I notice the colors of sunrise to my left and what I thought was our elderly neighbor's outdoor light flooding into the kitchen to my right. Why are they up so early? I go to the door to check. No. It's moonlight!!!!

Light I mistook for the neighbors outdoor light.

Moonlight spilling into the kitchen. You are welcomed.

I Don't Like Fibro Days

I DON"T like FIBRO days. My eyes open and I know right away. Nothing was really different the day before. A regular work day. I actually have been a good girl about taking supplements and eating well. This is the nature of Fibromyalgia. Ya never know. My being feels more emotional. Fibro days just turns the emotion flow on a little wider. I don't get depressed or sad. My inner being tends to be more tender as in relation to the overall body hurt. Oh well, I will just go a little slower. I am ready and willing in my heart to pull and move around shelves,canning jars,seasonal stuff in order to create a pantry area. We will see. Yet still, I am at rest and peace in my inner woman. All is well. I am whole in spirit.

If you are not familiar with or if you know some one with fibromyalgia please go here Fibromyalgia Network for more information. For those of us with fibro,everyday is a fibro day. Just some days have all capital letters.

Well, Hello, Morning

I clump up the stairs to the kitchen. Focus my eyes to the outside from the kitchen bay window.

Whoa. Beautiful morning over the high school.

Last week I saw snow on the golden leaves from this window.

Ran outside in bare feet to catch a moment of this beauty.

Oh, What a Day.....Glorious

Fall is the Best Time of Year

Candles lit for the evening

Didn't want to flash in the babies eyes. Papa and his girls.

They ALWAYS have something to talk about. :)

From the Cookbooks

Pulled out some well used family friends. Cookbooks from my childhood hometown and my grownup hometown.
In the mood to actually look through cookbooks today instead of web recipes.

This is one of three well used cookbooks I have used over the last 30+ years.

I have used this recipe for years varying the fruits. I mix usually mix flours. Mostly use wholewheat and unbleached. I also cut the sugar just a little. I use whatever milk I have in the fridge. Today it was a mixture of almond and buttermilk.

I cut the sugar to about half when I use bananas only. Today I threw some whole frozen cranberries into half of the batter. I mix flours of my choice for this recipe too.

I always enjoy opening our egg cartons. Makes me smile thinking about my friend Dianne and her chickens.

~~~Results from the cookbooks~~~Decided to put the muffin mix into the small four pan bread pan. Used strawberries and peaches from the freezer for the muffins. One plain banana bread. One cranberry-banana bread.
We had a very large bowl of left over mashed potatoes. Decided to make varied spiced-flavored potato "muffins". Mixed potatoes, eggs, wholewheat flour,oil, as a base mix. Then portioned out and varied the flavors. Added cheese to a batch, vegetarian sausage pieces to a batch, dill, horseradish,garlic to another. Baked until brown. Easy to pop out of the freezer, warm up and eat.
I Get Up Early?
  The sun's not up. For whatever reasons I have been waking up before the sun peeks over a portion of an eastern ridge of mountain near our home.( I call it Brad's mountain. Our elderly neighbor, Brad, now deceased, loved watching the sunrise from his chair by his porch window).
  Anyway, I have been getting up earlier. I HAD to get up for early classes in college. I HAD to get up early teaching school. I HAD to get up early rearing five children. We became "just the two of us" a couple of weeks ago. I wake up early. I get up early. I don't HAVE to get up before light but I do and I like it.
  The first time I got up early my husband asked if I was OK, if I felt well. He has been the early riser in our home for years. He knows how much I am NOT a morning person. Takes me a while to get into a flow. Still takes time to flow but I am ready to go much earlier in the day. The only problem is, the longer I am up the more I want to eat. I am ready for lunch by 9 am. By noon, I have eaten 3 times already. Gotta make sure what I eat is healthy. I think, maybe, my body is in a little bit of a shock. Happy Day.
October Snow
I wake to this soft surprise. Grabbed my camera and immediately went "window hopping".
Opened the front door. Thankful for the firewood we got two days ago.
Just outside our kitchen window
Sun peeking through from over the next ridge
I did open the front door for a few shots. This is next to our porch
View from our bedroom window. Looking through the glass and screen. Just a few days ago this is where I saw the young buck.
