From the Cookbooks

Pulled out some well used family friends. Cookbooks from my childhood hometown and my grownup hometown.
In the mood to actually look through cookbooks today instead of web recipes.

This is one of three well used cookbooks I have used over the last 30+ years.

I have used this recipe for years varying the fruits. I mix usually mix flours. Mostly use wholewheat and unbleached. I also cut the sugar just a little. I use whatever milk I have in the fridge. Today it was a mixture of almond and buttermilk.

I cut the sugar to about half when I use bananas only. Today I threw some whole frozen cranberries into half of the batter. I mix flours of my choice for this recipe too.

I always enjoy opening our egg cartons. Makes me smile thinking about my friend Dianne and her chickens.

~~~Results from the cookbooks~~~Decided to put the muffin mix into the small four pan bread pan. Used strawberries and peaches from the freezer for the muffins. One plain banana bread. One cranberry-banana bread.

We had a very large bowl of left over mashed potatoes. Decided to make varied spiced-flavored potato "muffins". Mixed potatoes, eggs, wholewheat flour,oil, as a base mix. Then portioned out and varied the flavors. Added cheese to a batch, vegetarian sausage pieces to a batch, dill, horseradish,garlic to another. Baked until brown. Easy to pop out of the freezer, warm up and eat.
