Rescued Chairs

trash

 noun \ˈtrash\
: things that are no longer useful or wanted and that have been thrown away
: a container where people put things that are being thrown away
: something that is very low in quality

Well, I guess the old saying is true, One man's trash is another mans treasure.

I stopped to look in a pile of debris/stuff/trash put out by the road for the city pickup. Gingerly, barely touching and lifting the corner of a large trash bag, I saw this wooden thing. What is that? A chair? and another chair? and next to that a step stool. Yes, I think I will.  "DAVID!!!! I want those chairs! Would you please get those out for me?"  Response, "You, really want those chairs?"...."Yes". Sweet man rescues them from the trash heap to the front porch. They are now waiting to be cleaned.

Very heavy mission style chairs and step stool.

Body Butter and Red Leaf Lettuce

I have wanted to try making a body butter. David and I have been using straight coconut oil out of a jar as a "lotion" for awhile. It's been fine but thought a little more creaminess would be nicer. So, here ya go. My first try at a simple coconut oil with a few drops of essential oils added and blended body butter. We like it! Between using this and straight olive oil, we may never buy lotions or creams again. I collected a half pint jar, only because it was flat and would be easy to get the cream out of, a hand mixer, a dollop of coconut oil and some mixed essential oils. Beat it up like making a frosting for about 5 minutes until creamy. Voila....Coconut oil body butter with a couple of drops of lavender, vitamin E oils. Happy...

A LITTLE ADD ON HERE.... I HAVE SO MUCH ENJOYED DAVID'S GARDEN! MOSTLY THE GOD COLORS OF THE RED LEAF LETTUCE AND HUES OF GREEN.

Lettuces, beet greens, cilantro, swiss chard, spinach, snow peas

Red leaf lettuce...So good
